On this page, you're going to learn how to make an origami flower that is both beautiful and easy. This flower is called the kusudama. Going by the picture alone, the flower looks an intimidating origami to fold, but all it takes is a few steps and you'll be holding your very own kusudama in no time. You'll need five pieces of paper to make five petals and some glue to hold all the petals together.
After making the kusudama, check out other origami flowers that you can make.
Step 1: Begin with a square sheet of origami paper with color side faced down, but if you only have regular 8.5x11 paper, follow these instructions to make a square sheet.
Step 2: Fold the paper in half by folding the bottom half to the top half.
Step 3: Fold the left and right corners of the triangle to the top corner.
Step 4: With the flaps you just folded to the center, fold their edges to meet the outer edges of the diamond.
Step 5: Unfold the left flap and insert a finger into the opening, then squash down.
|Step 6: Now squash the right side exactly the same way you did with the left side.
